Step 1: Create your ChatGPT account

  1. Open your web browser or download the ChatGPT app on your phone (search "ChatGPT" in your app store)
  2. Go to chat.openai.com
  3. Click Sign up and create an account with your email or Google account
  4. Verify your email if prompted

What you should see: The main ChatGPT interface — a text box at the bottom with "Message ChatGPT" as the placeholder.

Troubleshooting: If you already have an account, just sign in. If you get a blank screen, try a different browser or update the app.
